Roosevelt Hotel Hollywood

Built in 1927 the Roosevelt Hotel was the playground to the stars. Such as Clark Gable, Carole Lombard, Marilyn Monroe. It was the birthplace of the Academy Awards. It was renovated in 2005 by designer Dodd Mitchell a sort of rebirth of old Hollywood meets new.

I have been wanting to see this hotel for years, and my dream came true. I am a old Hollywood buff, and this was like a step back in time. I would love to stayed here, but my budget wouldn't allow it. But I would love to take a tour of it without all the hoopla that was going on at the time.

When you come back here we should have lunch there one day.

I found a fun trip in a magazine where we can take a train up to LA and spend the day up there seeing the different places and then take a train ride back home. It takes you through a lot of different historic places in LA. We should do that too.

Hugs,
Joanne

Hi Glenda!

What a gorgeous place! Such detail. I love Old Hollywood too. It's an era we missed by so little isn't it? Someday I'll come to Calif and meet your and Joanne and you can take me there to see the sights!!
Til then I'll see it though your eyes! That's one of the wonderful things about blogging, seeing different parts of the country we may never have a chance to see. Thanks Glenda!!

Have a great weekend!

Hugs, Sherry

I saw this back in the fall and so wished that I had a time machine to spring me back to when it was in its heyday.

They just don't make them like they used to. This somehow reminds me of the Detroit Opera House. The beautiful architecture, the exquisite details.

Glenda,
Thanks for showing one of my favorite old places. I just love old Hollywood and all the stories that go along with this hotel. We've stayed there a few times but I long to go back and feel the history. Hope you have a fantastic weekend! So happy it's sunny here.
ciao signora dolce!

Oh my gosh if you can you should eat at the restaurant there. It is amazing. The last time I was there they had the best meatloaf (yes meatloaf) that I've ever eaten in my whole life. Even the waiter was like you HAVE to try it. lol. While I was eating there I also saw Johnny Grant who is the honorary mayor of Hollywood! He's the guy who gives out all the stars on the Hollywood walk of fame! So next time you go you must eat there, apparently famous people go in a lot lol. Also, I heard that Marilyn haunts the place...!
