Bummer

I purchased this set of Limoges dishes off of ebay. I was so excited today when they arrived. But my excitement was short lived when I unwrapped the soup plates. Three of the six were broken beyond repair. The seller informed me that they are willing to compensate me for the damage of the plates. They were packed on the outside of the others and probably were hit or shoved in some way and broke. I received other dishes packed the same way and the same results.

I will be looking for three replacements if I can find them. I really like these.

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER - by Erma Bombeck

(Written after she found out she was dying from cancer).

I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.
I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.
I would have talked less and listened more.
I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or the sofa faded.
I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.
I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.
I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.
I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.
I would have sat on the lawn! With my grass stains.
I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life.
I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.
Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.
When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, 'Later. Now go get washed up for dinner.' There would have been more 'I love you's'; more 'I'm sorry's.'
But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute...look at it and really see it... live it and never give it back. STOP SWEATING THE SMALL STUFF!!!
Don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more, or who's doing what
Instead; let's cherish the relationships we have with those who do love us.
Let's think about what God HAS blessed us with, and what we are doing each day to promote ourselves mentally, physically, and emotionally. I hope you have a blessed day.

Mother Load

                                             Goody Goody Goody

This weekend was spent in the thrift shops and antique shops. My friend of 30+ years, she and I  went to a few places and this is what I found. The white background are white sheers, the one on the right has a lace insert on the bottom and the middle and the other is all sheer. Most things I found in either a Goodwill or Thrift town. The footstool I found in goodwill and I painted the bottom white and put new material on the pad. It was dark gray on the bottom and the material on top was just not my style. It's hard to pass up such goodies. I found the inkwell in a antique shop in Santa Rosa, Ca. I can't pass up these, that's it on the right corner of the chair. That black thing on the chair is a child's riding helmet.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentines Day

I found this card and thought it was lovely. It opens up to a little garden of flowers. I like the lace detail as well. I believe it's from the 1940's. Enjoy.

                                     Thrift Shop Finds
As promised I took pictures of my thrift shop finds from a few days ago.

The vase and the little planter, along with the off white urn. I also found some blue and white butter pat dishes. I forgot to include them in the photo's. I like to mix up different things and I could not pass up the blue and white. I went to Michael's for the flowers. Aren't they lovely ?
Blogspot is having trouble with the upload of pictures. So I will post those later.

Love the Flowers and pretty things

I was just taking pictures around the house yesterday after thrift shopping. These are the beautiful flowers I bought at Lucky's and the other pretty things are what I have on my dinning room table. All Thrift shop or antique shop finds.

I'll take pictures of my finds from a day ago from my thrift shopping, on my next blog.
