Someone's Old Is My New

After going through the Winchester Home. I start to notice more Architectural things around me. This little yellow shelf is something that looks like it was on a wall. I knew that it must be old. So, I took it home. Now I'll have to put those two peas in my head together and figure out just what to do with it. I think it would look great back up on a wall with either a statue, or flowers or something else. Now I have to think what to do paint wise.

And I love old frames too. Anything that doesn't appear perfect is perfect to me. I'll replace the picture with one of my own.

I love the style of shelves like your yellow one :) So "classic" as in Greek or Roman classic LOL. An urn with flowers in it would be nice!

All the best,
Allison

2 Great finds. I especially like the shelf! Figure out where you are going use it and then decided what color to paint it.

Hi Glenda,
Just want to let you know how much I enoy your blog. I love old architectural pieces like the shelf. Thank you so much for taking us on your visit to the Winchester house. I've never been even though I've lived within 3 hours or so most of my life. I remember being frightened by the freeway signs advertising it as a child. Big red and black ones with a skull I think. It's a shame they don't present it like you did ~ a beautifull place full of breathtaking things. I'm sure they'll get a few bloggers in to visit now!

Wonderful job!

Those are fabulous finds, rich in architectual details! Is the shelf a wall niche or is it flat in the back?

Looking foward to seeing the finished pics!

How about outside your front door with a sitting winged angel/cherub perched on it guarding the house. Or cut a piece of ratty tatty mirror to fit on the back. You could hang it on a wall and use it for a phone, land line or cell phone. Better yet sit your pooches on it for display....Okay heres one more then I'll shut up....hang it on a wall just above the floor and put Brandi and Daisies food bowls on it....make it a shrine for worshipping....or you could just send it to your sister if you can't think what you'd do with it!!!!!!

Where or where did you find that shelf? I love it!

It reminds me of where I grew up. We lived in an old home with built in shelfs like that.

Funny thing is when I was growing up I HATED where we lived. I felt like people thought we were poor because we lived in an old wooden house.

Now I would kill to live there! Kids are strange.

Hugs,
Joanne

The self looks really great :) I immediately thought about a statue being put onto it, but of course you would have to find the right one. So that will probably be a task for your next shopping tour ;)

I really love these, particuarly the shelf! Wonderful finds. I too love the less than *perfect*! More of a tale to be told...more unique!

I loved your posting about The Winchester House. We were there many years ago and loved it. Our son was 14 at the time and was so intrigued by it all.

Love,
Sue

You should take a trip to Urban Ore in Berkeley, if still there, and see what they have architectually. See if u can find me a claw foot tub for my backyard so I kin soak in it under the stars...
