Day In Santa Cruz

This is a long picture post.

Santa Cruz, what a place of memories. I went there as a child, and again as a young adult with a boyfriend. So, I wanted to go again when I could appreciate the beauty of it. I much prefer the ocean than the Boardwalk, so the majority of the pictures are of that. I drove along the coast Hwy 1, were picture ops are abundant. Stopping of at several turnouts and getting the pictures I did. Can't believe I didn't take my regular camera. I took these with my phone camera. I think they turned out great.

I love the Ocean side areas. The scariest part of the drive was going through Devils Slide, an area that falls off the side of the hill during heavy rainstorms. The highway literally falls off. Their repairing it constantly.

I loved the day, it was nice weather.

Those are THE best camera phone pictures I have ever seen.

I love all of the beach photos you posted. I *almost* felt like I was on vacation ;o)

I so miss the ocean and the smell...After moving here that's the one thing I really really miss...the ocean and the smells and the sounds of the beach and the waves finding their way to destroy a perfect sandcastle. I love my desert, but give me the sound and the sweet scent of Gods salty ocean grabbing the sand. Of course what I really miss is a day at the beach and coming home with enough beach sand in my drawers to make a sand castle. We'll have to take a cruise to the beach when I come out. The sound of the beach is the most relaxing sound to put one to sleep, don't ya agree?
I would honestly have to say that is what I miss the most about leaving in CA...the smell of low tide! Brings back so "Many Fond Memories" sister. Did ya take the girls with ya?

What a lovely day for you! And the pictures came out pretty good for a camera phone. I bet you are kicking yourself for not taking your new camera. Next time I guess. It has been a while since we have been to Santa Cruz. We went there when our daughter was in the marching band in high school. They always attended a parade competition there each year. Then there was time after to hang out at the boardwalk. But hubby and I went to the Santa Cruz light house instead one of those times. Then it was to an evening field show competition in San Jose I think then home late. Made for long days for sure. Your post brought back memories of that time. This year is 10 years and 7 years respectively since my son and daughter graduated from high school.

It is so pretty in that area! I have not been there in a few years though. Your photos made me want to go again and soon.

I can't get over how good those pictures came out with your phone. Great job!

Don't you just hate those days when you forget the camera. It's always those days you really could have gotten some great photos too.

Who did you go with? How far away from you is that?

Hugs,
Joanne
