What I've Been Up To

Mocha

I know I haven't done to much lately with my blog. Just don't have the love affair I had in the beginning.

But I have been busy.

Yesterday, I did a rescue of dogs from a Shelter that is closing due to budget cuts. Thanks to our distinguished Gov. Schwarzenegger.

We were able to get 12 dogs out. They came in all sizes. The dog above is one of them. I borrowed a Van from a friend and Crates from Berkeley Humane Society and drove down to Ripon to meet up with another transporter to load them up. I took 9 and another took 3. We drove up to Corte Madera to meet two Rescue organizations to take them and work with them to make them adoptable.

It is a really sad time for family pets. Mostly due to the housing situation. The animals are being turned in or let go to roam, because families can't afford to feed them.

The shelters are overcrowded and are only able to keep them for so long before the ultimate decision is made, which is euthanasia.

The sadist thing is, they had to leave 5 dogs behind. Sat, 10/17th was the last day for the Shelter. I don't know what happened to the dogs left behind. I can only imagine.

I'm so happy you were able to help out the ones you did!

I hate Arnold and can't wait for him to get out of office.

He doesn't care about animals at all. I remember when he first went into office and signed the paperwork to have all animals killed after 3 days at a shelter.

If it weren't for his kids who threw a fit it would still be like that.

It's so sad to hear of a shelter closing. I pray those other ones got a new home to go to before it was to late. It makes me so sad to think of that.

Hugs,
Joanne

Bless you Glenda for what you could do for those dogs :)
It would be so hard to leave any behind.

Glenda, that is so wonderful of you to help like that, poor animals! It just breaks my heart when that happens to any animal, my Honey was a dog like that, just left outside by someone at 4 months old! Can you believe that? We are thankful everyday to have her in our home, and I know she is too!

I understand what your saying about blogging, me too! I like Facebook better cause it isn't time consuming.

Hi Glenda! I read this post the day you posted it, and thought I commented, but I obviously did not. I have been thinking about this for a few days now and am so saddened, but touched by your actions. You are a good person and I admire you for doing this. I love my dogs and could never give them up. There must be such incredible desperation for this to be done. It breaks my heart.

I agree that Facebook is easier. I've got some of the same friends on Facebook as in blogland and I really enjoy reading little quips here and there.
