Parents Home Revisited

After
Before

Our parents home was remodeled and recently re-listed.

I contacted our listing agent that sold it, and asked if she could take me inside to see what they did. I was impressed with what was done. They persevered the charm that the house always had. He did do some things different, like turning the bathroom around and reconfiguring the kitchen a bit. Overall, I was very happy that he was keeping with houses original moldings and wood flooring. Repaint and re-texturing of the walls was done as well.

It's on the market for $359.000.00, he purchased for far below that. I don't think he'll get it, but it's a nice try......

Glenda,

Thanks for sharing. It does have some curb appeal.

Did you ever get photos of the inside? When my in-laws passed away, we sold the house as is. A year later, my husband and I drove by his childhood home, and it looked dramatically different. To this day, I'm curious how it looks on the inside because if the outside is nice, just imagine the inside. I'll never know.

Hope you had a nice Easter!

Toodles.

Hi Glenda, what a cute house, I remember when my parents house was sold, I was so nostalgic, if only the walls could tell their story. hugs Margie.

Hi Glenda!

Wow! what a transformation on the outside! It looks so sweet and cottagy looking now. It had to be a bit difficult to see some of the changes but at least you know someone had enough insight to see it's potential and your parents house lives on to shelter other happy owners.

Big hugs, Sherry

It is a pretty little house. Who ever bought my parents home (where I was born and raised), has kept the outside up, but don't know what the inside looks like, have never been back inside.
Have a nice day.

I am always thankful when I see older homes being loved.

They did a great job on the outside of the house. I know some one will love it just like your folks did.

I thought the house was pretty before. I love the window panes. It looks nice. I'm glad you got to go inside. I would love to go back into the home I grew up in. Thanks for sharing this.

You may think I'm crazy but I like the before better then with the changes. I like the old charm, front lawn and all. I know work may have needed to be done but it looks like he went to modern with those windows and that lawn doesn't have the warm feeling of a lawn.

I know how you feel though as I said good bye to the house that my Uncle owned today too. It's sort of sad to see it go to someone else. But, what else can you do? It's to costly to fix up, to much work and you already have a place to live. So you sell it and enjoy the memories the money can buy you.

If it weren't for my Uncle's home selling I wouldn't be going on the trips I'm taking, getting hard wood floors put in here, maybe getting a vintage trailer or any of the fun things I have planned.

Hugs,
Joanne

It's sure hard to visit our old homes, isn't it? At least improvements were made to your parents' home. My mothers house was sold 13 years ago after my dad died and it was the cutest house on the block then. Now it's getting run down, lawn overgrown and not taken care of. It's hard to drive by when I visit and at this point, I have no desire to see the inside. I do have wonderful memories of the 18 years I spent there, though. My folks lived in their house for over 35 years.

I think your parents' home looks so inviting and as stated before has lots of curb appeal.
Hugs,

I think it looks adorable. It still has lots of charm! That price seems low to me for the San Francisco Bay Area but then again...everything is lower now!
