Nice Finds In Silicon Valley

I found some wonderful things while on a day trip a little south. My friend Nancy who I've known since High School went with me to the Thrift Shops around San Jose, and Campbell CA.

Thank god for the navigation system in my SUV otherwise we may have ended up in who knows where. We started out in Fremont, CA and worked our way down.  It's fun to go other places to see what there is. 

These are some of the finds. This cream colored vase, hand painted plate, the crystal candy holder for my lemon drops, the hand painted creamer, and the little green etched glass votive, and last but not least the silver jewelry box. I also found a blue and white toile valance for my kitchen window, but it's in the wash. 

All in all, it was a productive day. I just love day trips to other places. I hope to go again soon. 

Nancy found some nice finds as well. 

My Inspired Project

I was inspired by, Cindy. at My Romantic Home to make some of these letters myself. I just took the materials she mentioned and went about doing LOVE for myself.  (Enlarge to see closer).

I found this lovely heart wreath with roses at Jo-Ann's, it was the only one that wasn't all red and I think it's beautiful.

Blood Giving

Yes, I give blood. They call on me all the time, because of my blood type (B-). They like to take the cells out and so on and so on. But I didn't qualify this time, so I just donated blood. 

I encourage those that can to do so. It's simple and doesn't take that long to do. 

Old Books and A Cheap Cloche

I appreciate old books. They just have a more artistic look to them more than today's. And the smell of an old book is a welcome smell to me, others may not agree. Little Women is a favorite, I read it when I was younger. I found this one on Ebay and had to bid for it. I WON !

Then there is this Cloche. I found it high on a shelf pushed way back in Ross one afternoon. I found a chair and climbed up and took hold of it dust and all. It was marked $6.00 WOW am I reading this correctly ? I didn't have my reading glasses on. But I was right. So, as I always say when I find something "It's Mine ". 

I found recently the green and cream eggs, and the pretty cream roses at Home Goods. 

Weekend Finds

Pretty blue paper napkins, battenlace heart, and a lacy door hanger. All these at Tuesday Mornings. 

I am a sucker for battenberg lace, so my heart pounds a little faster when I see it.

New Cozy Chair

This is the chair I recently purchased off Craigslist. I knew I needed a footstool to put my feet up on. So I decided after looking at numerous ones, that a leather one would be the best. 

I found this online on Sale and it arrived yesterday. It's perfect !

As you see Daisy thinks it's a great observation spot for looking out the patio doors, bird watching I suspect. Pssssst Daisy your not a cat.

When I have the fire going it's a perfect spot to knit or needlepoint. 

Lemon Drops and A Bathing Beauty

Do you like lemon drops ?  I do. It's hard to find the ones I loved as a child. The one's they make now they seem to be too sour for my taste. These are wonderful. They taste more like lemon or lemonade. You can find them on  A Southern Season.

And I found this Bathing Beauty at Cats Meow.

On The Hunt Again !

I have decided that the dining table I painted white, is to big for the space. I am now looking for a round table either white or to paint white. 

I don't want to pay much, so i've been checking out Craigslist a lot.  

Oh, a hunting we will go.......

Chintz

Another sweet find. Chintz one of my favorite patterns. This little demitasse cup and saucer will be added to my collection. I'll need to find a place to display it for a time.

And what a great find too was this silver candle snuffer.

Doesn't it look like it's paper ????

It's interesting what you can find online. I found this on Amazon.com.  I bought two of them, one for me and the other for my friend Nancy that goes on our great adventures.  They aren't paper as the container says, it's made out of "Porcelain",  so i'll have to be careful not to drop it, or it will break. 

It might take a tall or a grande from starbucks not sure. I drink tea, so a Chai or Earl Grey will work. 

Interior Designer For The White House

Interior Designer, Michael S. Smith has been hired to decorate the family quarters for the White House. Can you imagine what that's like ? Can you imagine getting that phone call ?

From his site you can see it's going to be a beautiful place after he's completed the job.

Can You Tell What I Like ?

You can tell I like Hydrangea's  it's the flower on my blog design. So, when I went into my local Pier 1, I saw this beauty. Now I am happy and sad at the same time. I am happy because I found it, but sad because it seems the Pier 1 I have been going to is a victim of the economy. Yes, it's closing it's doors later this month. 

I also found a few other things, but this I just to share this with Y'all.

A Wait And See

Why a wait and see ? There is one person ahead of me that is going to take a look at this chair this coming Saturday. It's on craigslist and I am keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be able to look at it. It's $200.00 and only two years old.  It's the type of chair I've been looking for and see for over $1000.00. 

Update : The original person backed out, so I will be able to see it tomorrow, YAY !!!!!

Well I got it. It's a BIGGIN. I found a kindred spirit in the woman I bought it from. It's like we had know each other forever.  We share the same life experiences. It's like it was meant to be. Now I just need an ottoman to make it comfortable. Maybe a leather ottoman in brown.

Why I Love Thrift Stores Part Deux

Well blogger allowed me the honor of being able to post a picture. YAY !!!!!

This is more of what I found in my adventure to Thrifts Stores.  

A large roasting pan for only $2.50, sugar scuttle with scoop for $6.00, the vase for $3.00 and of course the clock which is quite old it was the most expensive. And I love the old books you can get. I found these up in Healdsburg, CA, at the Salvation Army. 

I am now thinking of taking my adventures down the southern way, towards San Jose, Ca.

Blogger Strikes Again

It seems as through Blogger has struck again. It's not allowing picture uploads. I am not the only one in blogland this is happening to. So I guess my post will have to wait till they fix it.

Why I Love Thrift Stores

So I am sitting home and getting bored and needed to get out of the house. My true reason was to look for old books to place around the house. Well I didn't find old books, but.... I did find something else. 

I found the bee and wasp catchers at Thrift Town, and the painting and the large silver plater at the Goodwill down the street. The painting, is hand painted, by a talented Darlene who's signature is on it.  And the large silver plater was $8.99 not bad for as big as it is. I don't think I'll shine it up, anytime soon. Just trying to figure out where to place it in the house. I might hang it. 

This is exactly why I love browsing Thrift shops more than department stores.

I made a few other scores as well, I'll share them another day.

I found it at Pier 1. It's big and white and I love it. I am having a thing for crowns lately and I'll look for more along my way.

Rainy Day Reading

I just received these the other day. The Paris Apartment and Romantic Homes. Great dreaming for a rainy day. Starting a fire and drinking tea, a great combination.
