I've been working on a Duncan Phyfe double legged table. I bought about 4 years back for I think $20 0r 25 dollars from Goodwill. It was in rough shape and I went back and forth thinking do I sand and re-stain or sand and paint. I decided to paint. It's going to replace the table I've had for about 10 or so years that I was given. Now I would like to find different chairs. I have been looking for the Cane Back Chairs or French ladder chairs. I don't need more than 4. I don't have a large dining area.
The feet on this table are brass. And cleaning them up has been a chore in itself. Three have rust on them and I've been putting Royal Jelly on them to try and restore them. They are taking a bit longer. The other three have cleaned up so well and I am happy with them, it's the rusted ones I am not sure will fair well. I'll just have to keep working on them. I can see the brass coming through, but it's taking it's sweet time.
The above before picture is not my table. I forgot to take the picture. But the table is the same.
So, that's what I've been up to.

Hi Glenda,
You are a busy girl! That sounds like a serious project. The table looks fab, can't wait to see the chairs you decide to go with.

Barb

That is a big project. It is looking good. I can paint smaller things but my bigger projects are still waiting. Maybe soon.
Have a nice day. Suzy
That's one big project you are working on. I'm sure it will be lovely when you finish and get your chairs with it.
I had to laugh at the forgetting to take before pictures. I just went out and painted a frame, candle holder and letters that say BOO for Halloween. I put glitter on them too. I forgot all about taking pictures.
I'm pretty sick and shouldn't have been outside doing them anyway and I thought that was why I forgot. But now I fell better knowing I'm not the only one who forgot the before shot. LOL

Joanne
Hi Glenda!
It would have looked like Big Time Wrestling!! I think I would have taken you for that picture!!! LOL
I LOVE your table! It looks wonderful painted. Good job! I bet the feet will eventually clean up, it takes so much work to get rust off.
I'll be looking forward to seeing it in place when you get it into your dining room. When you see the right chairs you will know it! Sometimes that's the best way to go about it.
Hugs, Sherry
hi Glenda,
Looking good. Do you spray paint or use a brush??Just wondering what you like to use and gives you the best results.
Warmly,
Deb
Bravo Glenda! It looks so much better painted! (don't forget to put a coat of wax on it)
xo Roberta
I can't wait to see the finished project.
I am on post #99 so stay tuned. :)
Hey Glenda,
I know just what you have been up to! I recently painted an oak pedestal table and sideboard white. ( It replaced my duncan mahogany dining table which looked just like the one in your picture). I love it. I'm sure yours looks fantastic.
