I painted the trim of the chair with an off white color, "Innocence" by Behr. It doesn't look off white but it is. 
The brown you see is what the chair looked like before the painting.
This is the detail on the legs of the chair.
And the detail of the back of the chair. Now I am having a problem with trying to decided on whether or not to put an antique touch to this. It was hard to paint around the fabric of the back without any tape, it just would not stick. But I managed using different brushes and other things to cover the fabric. I am a little frustrated though. I painted primer on it before applying the paint, but I think a should have sanded before the primer. I am afraid things will start peeling. I need to find a great sealer for it. Any suggestions ? I am so impatient with these things. I think that's why I'm not a great refinisher.

Hi Glenda!
The chair is looking great! You could do an antique look on it by just using a darker craft paint and a rag or several small rags. Paint a small area away from the fabric, then take a clean part of the rag to carefully spread the color, leaving more in the grooves. It will be painstaking due to the fabric but worth it. You can use the putty knife idea to protect the fabric.
For sealing I use Minwax Fast Drying Polyurethane - Clear Satin.
I like a softer finish so I use satin or flat.
Refinishing is always a pain to get through but after it's done and you look at what you've accomplished it's so worth it. You're doing a great job!

Glenda - your work will be well worth it. I decided to do the same to an old 1980's blanket chest & small T.V. cabinet over my summer break. It was lots of hard work, but I was pretty pleased with the results for a first-timer. Now both pieces look fantastic in our Guest Room which we have just finished renovating & I'm feeling confident to tackle more projects.

I think you should put a little antiqueing on it too! Sherry has a good example as to how to do it, she is so great at furniture re-dos!
I did a chair black, (the one in the dog hallway shrine), and it all started chipping off, I really need to sand the darn thing and start over...I am a lazy, lazy painter though, so it may never happen!!!

I would love to give you some help with the chair finish but I'm as bad as you. I have tons of projects I want to do but I want to do them right so they are just sitting for now. I, like you, just want to get them done. So I take short cuts then regret it later.
I'm dying to do my headboard but I don't want to do the striping part. I just want to paint it and have it done. But I won't. I'll do it right.......if I do it at all. LOL
But I did buy Howard Citrus Shield Natural Paste wax for when I do get it painted. I learned this from Cindy at Romantic Homes. It's what she uses.

In answer to your question on my girls. Brandi is 1yr and 11 mos, and Daisy is 9 mos. Brandi is a teacup and Daisy is toy. Brandi is miss sturdy and Daisy is a floppy. They both have very different personalities.
The chair is near completion, and took longer than I thought it might. I'll post pictures in a few days.
