I know I haven't done to much lately with my blog. Just don't have the love affair I had in the beginning.
But I have been busy.
Yesterday, I did a rescue of dogs from a Shelter that is closing due to budget cuts. Thanks to our distinguished Gov. Schwarzenegger.
We were able to get 12 dogs out. They came in all sizes. The dog above is one of them. I borrowed a Van from a friend and Crates from Berkeley Humane Society and drove down to Ripon to meet up with another transporter to load them up. I took 9 and another took 3. We drove up to Corte Madera to meet two Rescue organizations to take them and work with them to make them adoptable.
It is a really sad time for family pets. Mostly due to the housing situation. The animals are being turned in or let go to roam, because families can't afford to feed them.
The shelters are overcrowded and are only able to keep them for so long before the ultimate decision is made, which is euthanasia.
The sadist thing is, they had to leave 5 dogs behind. Sat, 10/17th was the last day for the Shelter. I don't know what happened to the dogs left behind. I can only imagine.
