Sarah Winchester, had money to burn and a mind to do it. Over 5.5 million dollars were spent before she died in this dream home. A little nuts, but this woman knew what she wanted and didn't let others stand in her way.
With 160 rooms I am sure it was a bit confusing to get around. But I think she had the spirits on her side to help her.
So, why a native Californian has not visited this place is beyond me. So, I think I'll have to make a trip down there to see what I've been missing all these years. They have several tours including Flashlight tours and Friday the 13th ones as well. The tour I am taking cost only $28.00 and it takes you through the house and the grounds. I'll be going tomorrow.
I'll let you know if any spirits tapped me on the shoulder......

I have given you a challenge, come on over to claim it. I will be back to read this post, I am on the run.:)

I live about 5 minutes from there and I've never even been in there!!! I driven past it a million times over the last 48 years! It's so funny that you posted this because I was just looking online at work today and we can get employee discount tickets for a lot less..I think they were $13 or $17..something like that! Have fun and let me know how it is.
I've been there two times. It really is a strange place and I'm sure you will love it.
Can't wait to hear what you see, hear or feel there.
I didn't find anything in the house when I went. But there was a carrage outside that both my friend and I saw. In the distant we both saw a man dressed in black wearing a top hat. As we got closer we noticed...there was no man anywhere around there.
I wish I was going with you!
Hugs,
Joanne
I've never been either. I am truly surprised by that fact also LOL. Have fun.
All the best,
Allison
Have a blast, Glenda. I wish I could go with you. I've loved that place since I was a kid. My cousin worked there when I was young and snuck us in one night when it was dark with one of his co-workers. I wish I would've truly understood what a privilege it was to walk around unattended way back then. Can't wait to hear what you think. The stained glass windows are so beautiful but they're inside the house!
Let me know what you think.
Au revoir ~Tracie
I have read about the house. I wonder how many people have got lost in there. Looking forward to hearing about your tour.
Glenda
I have been in that mansion many times, my girlfriend and I loved touring that place and looking at all the weird stuff that got built...
How are you these days? Hope all is well!
XO,
Donna Lynn
Hi Glenda,
