Knitting, Who Me ??

When I was a young girl my mother taught me how to knit and crochet. I did it for a time, and stopped doing it for one reason or another. Then recently, I decided to try it again. Now I wasn't really all that good, so it was mostly a scarf(s) that was the result of it of my past endeavors.

So, I went to Joann fabrics and bought needles and yarn and hooks and thread.

I was trying to remember on my own, how to get started and knew the motions but didn't remember everything. So I went to YouTube and pulled up a great video and it all started coming back to me. Cast on, was something the eluded me, but as I did it I remembered my mother saying now don't do it so tight because you'll need to get the needle under the yard to start the knitting process.

It will take some time to get a rhythm to it again.

For those of you who still knit and have been doing it for years, I commend you.

Hi Glenda,
So happy to hear that you sold your parents house, I understand about the bitter-sweet aspect of it all, having just gone through it myself! Bless you, I know it is hard, but there is also the blessing in it for you and your sister. I went through a bit of a withdrawl, after all the days of work, then it was suddenly all done! It was hard to just walk away and be done....weird!

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your son, let me know how he is doing, I think about you lots!
XO,
Donna Lynn

So you gonna knit your sister a scarf for Christmas? How about matching ones for me n Callie? Mom started a crochet throw for me and there are about 12 rows left to finish on it.

I'm an on and off knitter. My mom taught me when I was young too. I really got into knitting when I was in my early 20s and my goal was to make and Irish Knit sweater and I did. After that I put the needles away for years and years but a couple years ago when knitting became the big craze I started up again...and then quit again. Last weekend I got some yarn out and started knitting a scarf. It's this time of year when I really get in the mood to knit. I just wish I had more time to sit down and knit!

You'll get your knitting mojo back, I just know you will. That's pretty much what got me back to knitting. I fell in love with SOCKS! I wanted them and there was nobody else to knit them for me, except me, so I started knitting again. I love it and I know you'll enjoy it again.

I love to knit . . . I learned in a class a few years ago, but I'm still a beginner, I guess, because I can't knit anything but scarves! I'd love to do socks, but the classes are really expensive. I'll have to try YouTube, also--great idea! I learned how to put more memory into my computer using a video I found on YouTube--something my son suggested, and I hadn't thought of! Smiles, Jann
